Fund x402 AI agents with EUR client payments

Let European customers pay your business in euros by SEPA. Receive approved payments as USDC in your company wallet, then allocate a budget to AI agents that pay for APIs through x402.

The challenge

Your customers pay in euros. Your AI agents need USDC.

Building an AI product means paying for the services behind it: model inference, document processing, data and specialist APIs. An agent using x402 needs a compatible wallet and enough of the token accepted by the service it calls.

Your European customers, however, may expect a conventional EUR invoice and a SEPA bank transfer. They should not have to buy stablecoins or learn how to fund a blockchain wallet just to pay your company.

The missing connection is between customer revenue and the wallet budget your agents spend. EurusPay connects eligible EUR invoice payments with USDC settlement, giving your business a starting point for its agent payment budget.

The EurusPay approach

From European customer payments to an x402 spending budget

Eligible companies can apply for a EurusPay business account, complete company verification and connect an approved company-controlled wallet. European customers pay genuine EUR invoices using the beneficiary details, IBAN and payment reference shown in the account.

After receipt, matching and the required checks, EurusPay converts an approved payment and processes the resulting USDC payout to the selected supported wallet and network. Your company can then allocate part of its received USDC to a compatible agent wallet.

EurusPay handles the EUR-to-USDC payment flow. Your application handles the agent wallet, spending permissions and x402 integration. This use case can sit alongside thirdweb's x402 tools, provided the wallet, token and network are compatible.

Start with receiving EUR payments in USDC and the European business IBAN for eligible non-EU companies.

Example

Example: customer revenue funds a document-processing agent

Illustrative workflow: an eligible software company sells a document-automation service to a European business. Its AI agent uses an external API that accepts x402 payments in USDC.

  1. The customer pays a EUR invoice. The company invoices a genuine service in euros. The customer sends a SEPA payment using the approved EurusPay payment instructions.
  2. The company receives USDC. Once the payment is approved and converted, the resulting USDC reaches the approved company wallet. The payout depends on the conversion rate and applicable fees.
  3. The company allocates an agent budget. It assigns 100 USDC from its available balance to its own compatible agent wallet. If another network or wallet transfer is needed, the company arranges that separately.
  4. The agent pays for an API call. The external API quotes 0.05 USDC through x402. Within the application's configured limits, the wallet authorizes the payment and the API returns the result after successful settlement.

The invoice, budget and API price are examples, not account limits or live provider offers. EurusPay processes the incoming business payment; the agent's subsequent API purchases happen in your chosen x402 setup.

Why it helps

A practical bridge between EUR revenue and agent payments

  • Keep customer payments familiar. European finance teams can pay an ordinary EUR invoice through SEPA.
  • Receive usable stablecoin revenue. Approved payments settle as USDC to a supported company wallet, ready for your business to allocate.
  • Budget for usage-based APIs. Use a portion of received USDC for compatible x402 services such as inference, data or document processing.
  • Keep spending under your control. Your application determines the agent's permissions, maximum payment amount and approved services.
  • Connect the accounting trail. Record the EUR invoice, incoming transfer, conversion, wallet payout and subsequent agent expenses.

This is relevant to AI product teams, software agencies and Web3 companies receiving European client payments. For broader treasury use, explore paying business expenses with USDC or USDT.

How it works

How SEPA, USDC and thirdweb x402 work together

  1. Open the correct EurusPay account. Use business onboarding for the legal entity that issues customer invoices and receives the payout.
  2. Complete KYB and choose the USDC payout setup. Confirm the supported token, network and receiving company wallet before sharing payment instructions.
  3. Receive an approved EUR customer payment. The customer pays by SEPA. EurusPay matches and reviews the transfer, then converts and pays out the eligible amount.
  4. Prepare the agent's payment wallet. Allocate received USDC and configure your x402 client, payment limits and service access. Confirm the service accepts the exact network and token your wallet holds.
  5. Let x402 handle the API payment request. The API returns HTTP 402 with its payment requirements. The client signs a payment authorization, retries the request and the facilitator verifies and settles the payment.
  6. Receive the API result and reconcile the expense. Your application uses the returned data and records the payment for its operating costs.

thirdweb provides client helpers such as wrapFetchWithPayment and useFetchWithPayment, plus server-side verification and settlement tools. Its exact scheme charges a specified amount; upto supports usage-based settlement within an authorized maximum. These settings belong to your x402 application.

See the official thirdweb x402 documentation, client integration guide and server payment schemes for implementation details.

Before you start

Check your business payment flow and wallet compatibility

  • Account and payment eligibility. Business onboarding requires company and ownership verification. Country availability, business activity and payment review determine whether a flow can be supported.
  • Genuine EUR customer revenue. This page describes documented customer invoices. Own-account deposits, related-company treasury transfers or other funding sources require explicit approval for that transaction type.
  • A compatible token and network. Check support in EurusPay, the receiving wallet, the agent wallet and the paid API. Matching the token name alone is insufficient; networks and token contracts must also match. Separate transfers or bridging may add steps and costs.
  • Separate setup and costs. Your company configures thirdweb or another x402 provider. Review EurusPay's conversion rate and fees as well as any wallet-transfer, network, facilitator and API costs.

Keep the invoice, contract and payment reference available. Read the third-party payment requirements and EUR invoicing guide before receiving customer funds. Current account options and fees are shown on the EurusPay homepage and in the application.

Questions

Funding AI agent wallets for x402: FAQ

What is x402, and why does an AI agent need USDC?

x402 is an open protocol for paying for online resources through HTTP 402 Payment Required. A compatible client authorizes a payment from its wallet and retries the request. If the chosen API accepts USDC, the agent needs that token on the accepted network. Payment options are set by the service.

Can I top up an agent wallet from my own bank account through EurusPay?

This use case covers approved EUR customer invoices that settle as USDC to a company wallet. It does not establish approval for own-account deposits, treasury transfers or arbitrary wallet top-ups. Ask EurusPay to confirm your exact funding source and transaction type before sending such a transfer.

Does EurusPay manage my thirdweb integration or agent spending?

EurusPay handles the approved EUR-to-USDC payment flow. Your business configures its compatible wallets and thirdweb or other x402 tools separately, including payment permissions, spending limits and service access. Confirm wallet, network and token compatibility for the complete workflow.

Can my European customers pay in euros without using x402?

Yes, for eligible accounts and approved payments. Your customer pays a genuine EUR invoice by SEPA using the instructions shown in EurusPay. After USDC settlement, your company can allocate funds to its agent payment setup. Customers do not need a crypto wallet to pay the EUR invoice.
